Awards For Your Reading Group

 

One of the great features Reader Zone offers, is the customizable award section. You can alter the awards to trigger based on how your Programs and Groups are set up.

 

How to Set up Awards for a Reading Log Group

Awards are a great way to keep your readers on track and motivated to keep reading!

The awards given are at the “Group” level. The groups are already equipped with preset awards that are easily customizable to fit your group’s specific goals.

 

Notes about Reading Log Groups:

Reading Log Programs are made to track reading without a specific goal or schedule. Awards are triggered based on progress to keep them reading. Your awards will trigger as often as you would like for any metric you select.

If you set your metrics to “minutes”, you can have an award set to trigger after “30 minutes read”, “60 minutes read” and so on.

If you have it set for books, it can be set to trigger after “2 books read” or any number, you put in.

Example:

“Readers who log number of books”

When are reader logs their first book, they will receive an award

that says “Good job! You finished your first book!”

To access the awards, you will need to:

1.      Click on the “Programs” button on the left side.

          a.      Select the Program you want to work with.

          b.      Select the Group for which you want to edit awards.

2.      Click on the purple plus sign, located on the right side of your group name.

          a.      This will open the edit tools for the Group.

3.      Click the yellow “Awards” button.

         a.      The list of awards will appear in a pop-up.

4.      Click the pencil icon to access editing options.

         a.      From here you will be able to hide or show different awards, as well as edit the description, award level, and image.

Adding your own image to the award:

The images work best if they are between 215 to 250 pixels in a square. The file type PNG works best, but a JPEG works well too.

To preview what the award will look like to your readers:

From the list of awards looking on the right side under “Actions” you will see an eye icon. Simply click that and it will generate a preview.

How to Set up Awards for a Goal-Based Group

Awards are a great way to keep your readers on track and motivated to keep reading!

The awards given are at the “Group” level. The groups are already equipped with preset awards that are easily customizable to fit your group’s specific goals.

 

Notes About Goal-Based Groups:

Goal-based Programs are meant for readers who are set with a reading schedule. The awards will trigger from an interval setting in which they complete a percentage throughout the duration of the Program.

The intervals are set to keep readers on track.

Example 1:  Goal is to read 1800 minutes between June 1 and July 31, 2020.  

In this scenario, the readers can read at any pace they would like and still receive the 100% award as long as they complete the 1800 minutes by the end of the program.

Example 2:  Read 100 minutes per week between June 1 and August 31, 2020.

In this scenario, you are asking your readers to read 100 minutes, 12 times. The readers will have read an accumulative of 1200 minutes by the end of the program.

The 100% award will only be given if they logged their correct 100 minutes each week.

Therefore, you cannot read all 1200 minutes the last week of the program and still receive the award. They will receive the goal for reading that week, but will not receive the completion award, even if they went over the required amount for that week.

Example 3:Goal is to read 20 minutes a day between June 1 and July 30, 2020.

Here we have a scenario that is requiring readers to read 20 minutes, 60 times over 60 days. For this goal to be completed, the readers must read 20 minutes per dayevery day during the program.

To access the awards, you will need to:

1.      Click on the “Programs” button on the left side.

        a.      Select the Program you want to work with.

        b.      Select the Group for which you want to edit awards.

2.      Click on the purple plus sign, located on the right side of your group name.

        a.      This will open the edit tools for the Group.

3.      Click the yellow “Awards” button.

        a.      The list of awards will appear in a pop-up.

4.      Click the pencil icon to access editing options.

        a.      From here you will be able to hide or show different awards, as well as edit the description, award level, and image.
